IAMAI-BACC Hires Dr. Gulshan Rai As Advisory Board Member

India’s first and former cybersecurity coordinator Dr. Gulshan Rai has recently been appointed as the Advisory Board Member of Blockchain and Crypto Asset Council (BACC), a part of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), according to an announcement. 

Dr. Rai is a well-known personality in Information Technology. He had given over 30 years of his life to the IT field, including e-governance, cybersecurity and cyber laws. He also played an instrumental role in drafting national policies on cyber laws and cybersecurity.

Apart from this, Dr. Rai had always tried to represent India in various internet governance and cybersecurity discussions. 

While he was serving the Indian Government, Dr. Rai worked as the Director-General, CERT-in (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Executive Director, ERNET India. 

Naveen Surya, who is already an Advisory Board Member of IAMAI-BACC, recently shared his views on Dr. Rai’s appointment. Surya said, “It’s a privilege and a proud moment for us to have Dr. Rai on board. His vast experience will help shape BACC further and lay a very strong and secure foundation for this innovative industry. It’s an impetus for the industry, which is at a nascent stage but has bigger dreams. We feel privileged that Dr. Rai’s rich experience will be tremendously beneficial for the council and continue to drive the industry in the right direction.”

Dr. Rai is also happy to be a part of the Advisory Board Member of IAMAI-BACC. He further stated, “The council is playing an active role in paving the way for blockchain and crypto in the country in an appropriate manner. I am keen to share my contribution to the industry and excited to do my bit for the betterment and growth of our nation.”

The IAMAI formed the BACC in 2017, to represent the Indian crypto industry. The aim of this council is to enhance crypto awareness among people and offer guidance related to the crypto industry. All the major crypto exchanges in India have joined this body to regulate the industry.
